This was written with a bit of sarcasm, because the fear around Obama being elected was so far out of proportion to reality. Every election brings warnings that the country is about to fall apart, but some of the reaction to Obama was especially revealing.
The interesting question is not just whether people disagreed with him politically. Disagreement is normal. The more important question is why so many people were ready to believe the worst possible stories before anything had actually happened.
